Services Reason To Learn provides academic therapy, tutoring and neurofeedback. Our lessons are based on many different programs that use “best practice” methods of teaching. Continuous research and education on learning and brain function have helped guide our methods to be creative, modern and effective. By combining programs and services, we can create an effective, engaging program for your educational needs. Each service is performed by highly qualified, trained instructors.
We work with parents, teachers, and other
professionals as requested. Our teachers can attend IEP meetings,
support classroom instructors, and provide parents with regular reports
and feedback. We continually monitor and share your child's
progress with you. Most, if not all, learning materials are provided for you.
Academic Therapy Testing from neuropsychologists, schools or other professionals helps to determine the need for academic therapy. Students with learning disabilities, processing disorders, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, and other cognitive function disorders need individualized learning programs that increase success within the classroom while building long-term learning strategies.
Literacy: Specialized instruction in all areas of literacy, including reading fluency and comprehension, spelling, writing.
Mathematics: Innovative instruction from numeration and number sense through calculus and test-taking skills. Using cognitively guided instructional practice, students learn to understand math as the see, hear, feel and think about problem solving.
Study Skills: Organization, note-taking, time management, active reading techniques, outlining,
research skills. Study skills are typically taught in conjunction with literacy and mathematics programs.
Tutoring For students who are at or above grade level and need support in specific subject matters. Students receive help with for homework, organization and test-taking skills. Tutors help students directly with school work, including subject homework assignments, studying for tests, projects and reports.
Neurofeedback Numerous studies have shown that NFB, also called EEG biofeedback results in measurable and replicable improvements in attention, impulsivity, mood, anxiety, memory, and learning and clinically significant improvements in addictive disorders and epilepsy in children and adults. Children taking medication for attention deficits have been able to significantly reduce or even eliminate dosage. All neurofeedback sessions are carefully monitored and supervised by our medical partner, Dr. David Dubin, and California BrainWorks.
